| 1200 animals belonging to 190 different species, the majority of them becoming rare as their natural habitats disappear, or as a result over-hunting. One of the principal objectives of today's zoos is the protection and preservation of these endangered species. The Mulhouse Zoo is not only a place for sight-seeing and recreation, but is also an important center of animal breeding, scientific research, and education. |

Additionally, its exceptional trees and are well worth discovering, most especially when in full bloom. One finds wonderful collections of both local and exotic plant species beautifully laid out in seasonally changing displays: bulbs, irises, dahlias, peonies, day lilies, hortensias, etc... In 1868 , The Industrial Society of Mulhouse (Société Industrielle de Mulhouse) created a four hectare "people's park". |
| The Zoo School proposes outings for school children of all ages, organized by theme. Educational material is available in french and german: - Documentation about the food chain, - An educational kit, for learning to distinguish the various animals, - Educational games and toys |

| Opening : td> for the main part (entrée supérieure) of the Zoo : December / January / February from 10am to 4pm. March / Ocotber / November from 9am to 5pm. April / September from 9am to 6pm. May / June / July / August from 9am to 7pm. For the lower part of the zoo (open at 1am) -from April 1st to September 30th : every day. -from October 1st to March 31st : Wednesday, week-end and holidays. |
