Inaugurated in 1992, the new Tautavel Museum, European Prehistoric Centre, is a fantastic tool at the service of the popularization of sciences linked with archaeology and particularly with prehistory over the periods of the Mediterranean quaternary. |

During the excavation period (from April to September), numerical link with the cave to live in direct the discoveries of archaeologists from the museum. A life-size reconstitution of the Caune de l'Arago (place of discovery of Tautavel man) allows to plunge into the authentic habitat of this ancestorIn the different rooms of the Museum, some archeological pieces to be touched (ex: the Tautavel man skull, mandible, tools…). |

Through 21 rooms, the Prehistoric Museum invites you to meet Tautavel Man, the oldest man discovered on the French soil (- 450000 years). The Prehistoric Museum displays its exceptional archaeological collections with the means of modern museography so that this remote past becomes comprehensible to all publics. |

Individual receivers (French, Catalan, English, German, Dutch and Spanish) give you clear and educational explanations in each room of the museum. |
